Dr. Nixon T.H. Leung, Assistant Professor of Department of Architecture, HKCHC, was interviewed by Phoenix Hong Kong Channel on 80th Anniversary of World War II. Informed by extensive field experiences, Dr Leung, staff and students of The University of Hong Kong discussed the relationship of the Battle of Hong Kong and Ricci Hall, The University of Hong Kong. They then visited pillboxes in Wongneichung Valley, Hong Kong island, as well as the defense systems of Gin Drinkers’ Line along Kowloon Range, including Pillbox 126 on Fei Ngo Shan and Pillbox 115 on Razor Hill.
Witnessed the Fall of Hong Kong, these sites are valuable historical relics with high educational value. Dr. Leung also shared on the sacrifices of Chinese and multi ethnic soldiers and civilians during and after the fall of Hong Kong, the efforts of East River Column in resistance activities, as well as the importance of continuous and active conservation of war relics.
